Meeting with Pyithu Hluttaw Bill Committee on Consumer Protection Bill

Chairperson of Pyithu Hluttaw Bill Committee, U Tun Aung (a) U Tun Tun Hein, Member of Parliament and Chairperson of Affairs Committee, Agriculture, Livestock & Rural Development, Pyithu Hluttaw, U Yan Lin, Secretary of the Committee U Kyaw Soe Lin and its members, members of Pyithu Hluttaw Bill Committee, members of Pyithu Hluttaw Economic and Financial Development Committee had meeting with Myanmar Consumers Union at (I-2) Meeting Hall of Pyithu Hluttaw Bill Committee on 28th February 2018 (8:00 am, Wednesday) for Consumer Protection Bill. Mr. Steve Parker, Project Director and Ms. Rebecca Bowman, Consumer Protection Expert, USAID-Funded Private Sector Development Activity also attended the meeting with Myanmar Consumers Union.

Consumer Protection Bill was officially published by the Hluttaw on 27 October 2017. Since then, Myanmar Consumer Union, with the support of the USAID-Private Sector Development Activity, has conducted a public consultation workshop on the bill and collected feed-backs and recommendations from stakeholders. In this meeting, Myanmar Consumer Union shared the findings and recommendations from the previous round of public consultation with the representatives from Hluttaw and government departments as well as international best practices regarding consumer protection.
